the quotient of three times a number and five is increased by four, the result is 34.
let number be x, then we have:
3x%2F5+%2B+4+=+34.........multiply both sides by 5
%283x%2F5%29%2A5+%2B+4%2A5+=+34%2A5
3x+%2B+20+=+170
3x+=+170+-20
3x+=+150..........divide both sides by 3
3x%2F3+=+150%2F3
x+=+50
