Question 127415: Gummy math symbols selling for $8 a pound is to be mixed with gummy numbers selling for $4 a pount to obtain a mixture of elaborate gummy equations selling for $7 a pound. How many pounds of gummy symbols should be mised with 20 pounds of gummy number to obtain this mix.
This is my trying to set up the equation.
x+20(8)+20(4)=x(7)
x+160+80=7x
x+240=7x
What is next, minus 240 from both sides, or divide by 7 to get x alone?
Thank you for your help.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
unfortunately, you have gone astray...

let x="pounds of symbols" __ (8)(x)+(4)(20)=(7)(x+20) __ 8x+80=7x+140
