This is what I tried : r+6*5=450
r*5=450
r= 90
What am I doing wrong?

THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT RIGHT!!!!
450=(x+x+6)5
450=(2x+6)5
450=10x+30
10x=450-30
10x=420
x=420/10
x=42 mph. for the slower train.
PROOF:
450=(42+42+6)*5
450=90*5
450=450
