You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Chocolate Bars = x Packs of Gum = y

3x + 1y = 1.75
2x + 4y = 2.00
This can be solved with using Substitution Method.
Expressing x as a function of y (from the first equation)
x = (1.75 -y)/3
Substituting this expression into the second equation:
x = (1.75 -y)/3
Simplifying this expression:
10y = 2.5
or
y = 0.25
Now, substituting y = 0.25 back into the x expressed as a function of y:
x = (1.75-y)/3
x = 1.75 - .25
x = 1.50/3
x = .5
x = 0.50 y = 0.25
3 * .50 + 1 * .25 = 1.75
1.5 + 0.25 = 1.75
1.75 = 1.75
2 * .50 + 4 * .25 = 2.00
1 + 1 = 2
2 = 2
