The process is called FOIL
(2x-1)(2x-1)
F means 1st & 1st
(2x)*(2x) = 4x^2
O means outer & outer
(2x)*(-1) = -2x
I means inner * inner
(-1)(2x) = -2x
L means last *last
(-1)*(-1) = 1

After you do that, you combine the terms to get:
4x^2 -4x + 1
