Question 124046: The problem reads:
Write the standard form of the equation of the line passing through the point (2,-4) and perpendicular to the line y= -3/7x-2
I have tried to use point-slope form, but it isn't right.
Please help me with this problem.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Write the standard form of the equation of the line passing through the point (2,-4) and perpendicular to the line y= -3/7x-2
------------------
The given line has slope -3/7 so the perpendicular line must have slope = 7/3
-------------------
Your line has form y = mx+b and you know y,x, and m; so solve for b.
---------------
-4=(7/3)2 + b
-4=14/3 + b
-12/3 = 14/3 + b
b = -26/3
----------------
EQUATION:
y = (7/3)x - (26/3)
