Question 123737: how do i write the slope intercept form of an equation of the line that passes through the given point and is perpendicular or parallel to the graph of each equation? how can i remember the steps for solving this? is there an easier way to solve these problems?
someone please help me asap. thanks
1. (3,2),y= x+5
2. (-1,-2),3x-y=5
3. (12,3), y=4/5x + 10
4. (-2,2), y= -1/5x + 9
5. (-4,1), 4x+7y=6
6. (2,4), x-6y=2

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Y=mX+b IS THE STANDARD LINE FORMULA. m=SLOPE & b=Y INTERCEPT.
---------------------------------------
Y=X+5 (RED LINE)
THROUGH (3,2)
2=3+b
b=2-3
b=-1 SO THIS LINE EQUATION IS:
Y=X-1. THIS IS THE PARALLEL LINE (GREEN LINE)

THE PERPENDICULAR LINE HAS THE EQUATION WITH A SLOPE OF -1 & PASSING THROUGH (3,2).
2=-1*3+b
2=-3+b
b=2+3
b=5
Y=-X+5(GREEN LINE)
