Since the Interest paid is in proportion to the Investment, you can set up a proportion:

Let x = interest earned on a $2000 investment.
+%28Interest%29%2F+%28Investment%29= +45%2F1500+=+x%2F2000

Remember a%2Fb=c%2Fd means ad=bc

In the same way,
45%2F1500+=+x%2F2000+ means 45%2A2000=+x%2A1500

x=+%2845%2A2000%29%2F1500
x=+60+

An easier way to look at it, since $2000 is actually $1500 plus one third of that amount, the interest earned will be the corresponding $45 plus one third of that amount, or $45 + 15 = $60.
