SORRY I READ THE PROBLEM WRONG.
.53*X=2096
.53X=2096
X=2096/.53
X=3955 WOULD BE THE TOTAL NUMBER OF STUDENTS.
PROOF
.53*3955=2096.

If 53% of the college students are woman and there are 2096 women, How many men are there?
-----------------
Let the total number of students be "x":
EQUATION:
0.53x = 2096
x = 3955 when rounded off to a whole number.
-----------
# of men = 3955-2096 = 1859
