Let s be the measure of the short piece.  Then the middle piece is s + 1 and the long piece is 2s.


s+%2B+%28s+%2B+1%29+%2B+2s+=+25


4s%2B1=25


4s=24


s=24%2F4=6


Then the middle piece is 6%2B1=7


And the long piece is 2%2A6=12
