Write an equation and solve. Aaron and Karen are agruing over who should clean the house. Aaron can clean the whole house in 12 hours. It takes Karen 6 hours to clean the same house. If they both clean the house, starting at opposite ends, how long will it take for the house to be cleaned?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Aaron's rate + Karen's rate = combined rate
(1 house / 12 hrs) + (1 house / 6 hrs) = 1 house / x hours
1%2F12+%2B+1%2F6+=+1%2Fx
multiply both sides of the equation bt 12
1+%2B+2+=+12%2Fx
x+=+12%2F3
x+=+4hrs answer
