You can put this solution on YOUR website! Nick has 7 more nickles than Dan has dimes. If Dan gives Nick 4 dimes, how much money will they have all together?
------------
Let Dan have "x" dimes.
Then Nick has "x+7" nickels
-----------------
If Dan gives Nick 4 dimes:
Dan will have "x-4"dime
Nick will have "x+7" nickels plus 4 dimes
-----------------------
Value:
Dan has 10(x+4) = 10x+40 cents
Nick will have 5(x+7)+10*4 = 5x+35+40 = 5x+75 cents
----------
Total money = 10x+40+5x+75 = 15x+115 cents

You can put this solution on YOUR website! You have made some sort of error in presenting the problem. There is no way to determine their total amount of money from the information presented.
For example, if Dan had 10 dimes, then Nick would have 17 nickels and whether Dan gave any of his dimes to Nick or not, they would still have $1.85 between them.
But if Dan had 26 million dimes, then Nick would have 26,000,007 nickels and they would have $3,900,000.35 between them, and if Dan had given Nick 4 dimes, Dan's share would then be $2,599,999.60, and Nick's share would be $1,300,000.75. Fortunately, they would be able to afford a nice big truck to carry their very heavy load (about 189,000 metric tons) of dimes and nickels.
