A man is walking at an average speed of 4 miles per hour alongside a railroad track.A freight train,going in the same direction at an average speed of 30 miles per hour,requires 5 seconds to pass the man.How long is the freight train? Give your answer in feet.
Man's walking speed = 4 mi/h = 5.867 ft/s
Freight train 30 mi/h in same direction = 44 ft/s

Time taken by train to pass the man 5s
Let the length of the train be x feet
Freight train and man walking in same direction
Effective speed = 44- 5.867 =38.133 ft/s
distance = x ( length of train)
d= s*t
d= 38.133 *5 = 190.67 feet
The length of the train is approximately 190.67 feet.
