" . . . win the best out of five games" ?

Problem (1)
So, according to your comment, the problem says that
to win a play-off championship, the team must win 3 of 5 games.
3 items can be chosen from 5 items in  =  =  = 10 different ways.
It is the ANSWER to problem 1.
Problem 2
This problem asks in how many way 4 items can be chosen from 7 items (without looking the order).
It is about COMBINATIONS, and the ANSWER is
in  =  =  = 35 different ways.
