You can put this solution on YOUR website!
j for Jiri
j+5 for Pamela

j%2B%28j%2B5%29=65
.
.
Without doing any written steps, you may figure, j=30.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

let Jiri's age be x
if Pamela is 5+years older than Jiri, her age is x%2B5

if the sum of their ages is 65, then
x%2Bx%2B5=65
2x=65-5
x=60%2F2
x=30

Jiri is 30 years old

To solve it mentally, take off for a moment 5 extra years of Pamela's age
and take off 5 extra ages from 65.

Then you will have two persons of equal ages with the sum of their ages of 65-5 = 60 years.

So, to get the Jiri's age, you simply should divide 60 by 2, which is not so difficult.

Do you agree ?

Is everything clear to you from my mental solution ?
