You can put this solution on YOUR website!

if a wire is first bent into the shape of a rectangle with width 9in and length 12in, then the perimeter is
2%289in%2B12in%29=2%2B21in=42in

if the wire is unbent and reshaped into a triangle, then a triangle will have same+perimeter as rectangle
if each side of the triangle has equal length of x, then
3x=42in
x=42in%2F3
x=14in

this length of each side of triangle is 14in

The wire length same as perimeter of that given rectangle.
2%2A12%2B2%2A9
24%2B18
42

Upon changing into triangle with the three sides all same length, x being length of each side
3x=42
x=%287%2A6%29%2F3
highlight%28x=14%29

.

One line solution

    the side length = %282%2A9%2B2%2A12%29%2F3 = 2*3 + 2*4 = 6 + 8 = 14 inches.    ANSWER

Solved.
