At a football game, a vender sold a combined total of 239 sodas and hot dogs. The number of sodas sold was 37 more than the number of hot dogs sold. Find the number of sodas sold and the number of hot dogs sold.

a vender sold a combined total of 239 sodas and hot dogs.

Let number of hotdogs sold be x
number of sodas sold was 37 more than the number of hot dogs sold.
Number of sodas sold was x+37
Total of both was 239
Number of hotdogs +number of sodas sold = 239
x+(x+37) = 249
2x+37=239
subtract 37 from both sides
2x+37-37 = 239-37
2x = 202
divide by 2
2x/2 = 202/2
x = 101 , Number of hotdogs
Number of sodas sold was x+37
101+37=138
