since the increase in saving is 100 per month the sequence when written will be Arithmetic
Total saved = 16500 = Sn
d= common difference = 100
n= number of years 10
Sn=n/2(2a+(n-1)D)
Sn = 10/2 (2*a+(10-1)*100
16500/5 = 2a+900
3300 -900 = 2a
2400=2a
a=1200
So, the man saved $1,200 in the first year.
