Using the given information:
Rectangle perimeter:
2n + 2m = 34
:
Triangle perimeter:
n + m + (n+1) = 30
2n + m = 30 - 1
2n + m = 29
:
Use elimination from the two equations
2n + 2m = 34
2n + m = 29
----------------subtracting eliminates n, find m
0n + m = 5
:
Find n using the triangle perimeter equation:
2n + m = 29
2n + 5 = 29
2n = 29 - 5
2n = 24
n = 12
