You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Let the number be "x."
11 - 5x = 4x + 20
First, let's get all the terms involving x on one side of the equation. Add 5x to both sides:
11 - 5x + 5x = 4x + 5x + 20
we get
11 = 9x + 20
subtract 20 from both sides:
11 - 20 = 9x + 20 - 20
we get
-9 = 9x
Finally, divide both sides by 9 to solve for x:
-9 / 9 = 9x / 9
x = -1
The number is -1.

This wording can be read and written in other way,  too

        11 - 5x = 4*(x +20).

So,  there is no big sense to learn from such assignments - in the end,  you, a student,  won't learn anything anyway.
