Extremely Basic.

%28speed%29%28time%29=distance

speed=%28distance%29%2F%28time%29

note: 1 hour has 60 minutes.

Please help me with this two questions.

2. A motorist travel's from town A to B, 145 km in 3hrs 45 minutes. Find it's average speed?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(1)  As you know,  1 hour is 60 minutes.
     Hence, 1 minute = 1%2F60 of an hour.
     Next, 3/4 of a minute is  %283%2F4%29%2A%281%2F60%29 of an hour = %281%2F4%29%2A%281%2F20%29 = 1%2F80 of an hour.
     Finally, the distance is the product of the speed by the time, or, in this problem,
         90%2A%281%2F80%29 = 9%2F8 kilometers, in problem (1).
     ANSWER.  In 3/4 minutes, the lorry travels  9%2F8 kilometers.
(2)  We want to express the speed of the motorist in kilometers per hour.
     THEREFORE, we convert 3 hours 45 minutes to hours:
                3 hours 45 minutes = 33%2F4  hours = %2812%2B3%29%2F4 hours = 15%2F4 hours.
     Next, the speed is the distance divided by the time.
     So, in this problem the speed is
         145%2F%28%2815%2F4%29%29 = %28145%2A4%29%2F15 = reduce fraction = %2829%2A4%29%2F3 = 116%2F3 = 382%2F3 kilometers per hour.
     ANSWER.  In this problem, the speed is 382%2F3 kilometers per hour.
