add them together and then divide by the number of elements.
58 - -2 = 58 + 2 = 60 / 2 = 30
arithmetic mean is 30.

The arithmetic mean between two numbers is the number halfway between them.

The difference between -2 and 58 is 58-(-2) = 60; half of that difference is 30.

The arithmetic mean between -2 and 58 is -2+30 = 28, or 58-30 = 28.

ANSWER: 28

The response from the other tutor correctly says how to find the answer; but the calculations he shows do not what he says.

To find the arithmetic mean between two numbers, you can add the two numbers and divide by 2. For this problem, %28-2%2B58%29%2F2=56%2F2=28

ANSWER: 28
