y = -1.4 * x - 6
slope is -1.4
y-intercept is -6
to find the x-intercept, set y = 0 and solve for x to get x = 6/(-1/4) = -24.

In his post, tutor @Theo incorrectly pointed that the slope is -1.4.

According to the formula, the slope is -1/4, or -0.25.

If you need to re-post to get help with the problem, be sure to write the equation in a way that we know what it actually is. As you post it here, there are (at least) 3 different possibilities:

-1/4x-6 --> (-1/4)x-6 -->

-1/4x-6 --> -1/(4x)-6 -->

-1/4x-6 --> -1/(4x-6) -->

Proper use of parentheses is important....!

y-intercept read from equation, (0,-6).
Use the slope read also from the equation.
