Question 1203172: A tank contains 123456789 cu. in. of water. Determine weight and volume of water
Determine weight and volume of water.
231 cu. in. in 1 gal.
1 gal. weighs 8.62 lbs.
Not sure how to solve.
Question: Aren't cu. in. volume ?

.

cu. in. is the unit of volume (cubic inch) - which means that the volume of the water is just given in the problem.
So, it is not a good style to ask about the volume again, while it is just given.

Some given ratios seem to be. Maybe use them. You already have the volume, so maybe just you want how much "weight" of this water.

Look carefully, and examine it so it makes sense; and then compute the "weight".

Now maybe you can figure how many gallons of water this is on your own.

Now look at that last expression again. You wish to know the volume as GALLONS? What you need IS IN THE EXPRESSION!

--

You need THIS part from that:

What is then in place is this much of it:
123456789%2Acubicinches%2A%281%2F231%29%28gallon%2Fcubicinches%29

And as you expect,
123456789%2Across%28cubicinches%29%2A%281%2F231%29%28gallon%2Fcross%28cubicinches%29%29

and, you can finish the computation for the volume in GALLONS.
