You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If you would draw the description carefully, you will show a right-triangle with a vertical leg 5-1.7=3.3 meters and horizontal leg 8 meters. For x angle of elevation (from her eyes or 'head') cross%28sin%28x%29%29=3.3%2F8.

NOT sine of x; but TAN%28x%29=3.3%2F8

        The solution by josgarithmetic is wrong.
        I came to bring a correct solution.

The illustration is a right angled triangle with vertical leg of 5-1.7=3.3 meters
and horizontal leg of 8 meters.

Therefore, for the angle of elevation x we have this equation

    tan(x) = vertical_leg%2Fhorizontal_leg = 3.3%2F8 = 0.4125.

It gives for the angle of elevation x

    x = arctan(0.4125) = 22.42°  (rounded).    ANSWER

Solved.
