Question 1202057: Please, I need you to answer everything because I only have one question and I'm going to turn in the homework in an hour. Please.
(1) Write a direct variation equation with the information provided. Solve as indicated.
a) If y varies directly as x, and y— 4 when x = 3, find y when x = 9.
b) The distance that an object falls when it is dropped is directly proportional to the square of the amount of time since it was dropped. An object falls 512 feet in 4 seconds. Find the distance the object falls in 5 seconds.
(2) Write an inverse variation equation with the information provided. Solve as indicated.
a) If y varies inversely as the square root of x, andy= 2 when x = 64, find y when x = 4.
b) If the voltage, V, in an electric circuit is held constant, the current, I, is inversely proportional to the resistance, R If the current is 280 milliamperes when the resistance is 3 ohms, find the current when the resistance is 12 ohms.
(4) Write a combined variation equation with the information provided. Solve as indicated. a) If y is jointly proportional to x and z, and 60 when x— 3 and 4, find y when x = 2 and z = 9.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Hasty, hasty, hasty!

Best to just learn how this simple language for "variation" problems works. One of the least complicated parts of highschool level algebra.

Here's just a little help with #(2).
----
b) If the voltage, V, in an electric circuit is held constant, the current, I, is inversely proportional to the resistance, R
----

k, your proportionality constant
Exact transcription is
I=k%2FR
and it seems your proportionality constant may be V.
Would make one think therefore I=V%2FR
