Jim is three times as old as his son. In 10 years, Jim will be twice as old as his
son. What are their current ages?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The son's age = x years.
The Jim's age= 3x years.
In 10 years
2(x+10) = 3x+10
Simplify and find x
2x + 20 = 3x + 10
20 - 10 = 3x - 2x
10 = x.
ANSWER. The son is 10 years old. Jim is 3*10 = 30 years old.
