Buduli covers a distance of 8 km to his house in 1 hour.He walks part of
the distance at 6 km/h and runs the rest at 10 km/h. How many kilometers did he run.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Let d be the distance he ran, in kilometers.
Then the distance he walked was (8-d) kilometers.
Write the time equation
    d%2F10 + %288-d%29%2F6 = 1  hour.
To solve it, multiply both sides of equation by 30.  You will get
    3d + 5*(8-d) = 30.
Simplify and find d
    3d + 40 - 5d = 30
    40 - 30 = 5d - 3d
      10    =   2d
       d    =    10/2 = 5.
ANSWER.  Buduli ran 5 kilometers.
CHECK.   5%2F10 + %288-5%29%2F6 = 5%2F10 + 3%2F6 = 1%2F2 + 1%2F2 = 1 hour, the total time.   ! correct !
Buduli covers a distance of 8km to his house in 1hour.He walks part of the distance at 6km/h and runs the rest at 10km/h. How many kilometers did he run.
Let distance he ran be D
Then distance walked = 8 - D
Time taken to run and walk the 2 distances: matrix%281%2C4%2C+D%2F10%2C+and%2C+%288+-+D%29%2F6%2C+respectively%29
We then get the following TIME equation: matrix%281%2C3%2C+D%2F10+%2B+%288+-+D%29%2F6%2C+%22=%22%2C+1%29
                                      3D + 5(8 - D) = 30 ---- Multiplying by LCD, 30
                                       3D + 40 - 5D = 30
                                            3D - 5D = 30 - 40
                                               - 2D = - 10
                             Distance he ran, or
