You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.
A van has an 80-L fuel tank and a fuel efficiency rating of 12.2 L / 100 km.
(a) How far can the van travel on one t full tank of fuel?
(b) How much fuel would the van use on a 325-km trip?
(c) If the cost of gasoline is $1.55/L, how much does it cost to fill up the tank of this van?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(a)  Use this proportion
         12.2%2F100 = 80%2Fx.
     From this proportion, find  the unknown distance x
         x = %28100%2A80%29%2F12.2  kilometers.  At this point, use your calculator.
(b)  Use this proportion
         12.2%2F100 = y%2F325.
     From this proportion, find  the unknown volume of fuel y
         y = %2812.2%2A325%29%2F100  liters.  At this point, use your calculator.
(c)   To find the cost of filling the tank, multiply the tank volume (80 L) by the price of the fuel, per liter.
