SOLUTION: The area of a rectangle is 12 square feet. Determine the length and width if the length is 3 times the width.

Area = Length * Width  (A = L*W)









For this problem:

12 = (3*W)*W

12 = 3*W^2

4 = W^2

W = 2ft  --> L = 6ft
