The problem #24, the isosceles tringle, is labeled to indicate that AB and BC are the same size. This means 28=9x-8.

#25, the proof, somebody else may do the proof for you, but you should easily find a substitution you can do. You should also recognize that Vertical Angles are Congruent. This may be enough you can do this proof yourself.

For the proof, you can do the formal proof; here is what you need.

C is the midpoint of AD, so AC = CD.
Angles A and D are right angles and so are congruent.
It is given that AB and DE are congruent.

The two triangles are then congruent by side-angle-side.
