Question 1197478: A projectile is fired from a cliff 200 feet above the water at an inclination of 45° to the horizontal, with a muzzle velocity of 340 feet per second. The height h of the projectile above the water is given by ((-32x^2/(340^2) + x+200 where x is the horizontal distance of the projectile from the base of the cliff. Find the maximum height of the projectile.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Hi
f(x) = +%28%28-32x%5E2%29%2F%28340%5E2%29%29+%2B+x%2B200+
Using FREE padowan graphing software downloaded from www.padowan.dk
the maximum height of the projectile = ~ 1100Ft

setting the Derivative to zero to find maximum height:
f'(x) = -4x/7225 + 1 = 0 ⇒ x = 1806.25
f(1806.25) = 1103.125ft
 .
