5 and 7 are not factors of 72; but 6, 8, and 9 are. So there can be

(2) 8 students on each team (9 teams); or
(3) 9 students on each team (8 teams)
ANSWERS: 6, 8, or 9 students on each team
Of course if 9 students on a team is not allowed, then the number of students on each team can only be 6 or 8....
