Question 1196603: A rectangular field is three times as long as it is wide. If the perimeter of the field is 640 feet, what is the length and width of the field? Answer by ewatrrr(24785) (Show Source):
Hi,
A rectangular field is three times as long as its width 'w'
L = 3w
.
2L + 2w = P
2(3w) + 2w = 640ft
8w = 640ft
w = 80ft and L = 3(80ft) = 240ft
Checking our Answer
2*240ft + 2*80ft= 640ft
