A total of 380 tickets were sold for the school play.
They were either adult tickets or student tickets.
There were 70 fewers student Tickets then adult tickets.
how many adult tickets were bought ?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Let "a" be the number of adult tickets.
Then the number of student tickets is (a-70).
The total number of the tickets is a + (a-70) = 2a-70, and it equals 380 tickets, gibing an equation
    2a - 70 = 380.
It implies
    2a = 380 + 70 = 450,
     a            = 450/2 = 225.
ANSWER.  225 adult tickets.
