To find kilometers per liter, divide kilometers by liters.

Cars in France, and probably other countries, show fuel consumption in "Liters per 100 Kilometers."
I think that's a poor choice.
I think metric units are more rational than using the length of some king's thumb, but that is not a good idea.
Km/liter would make more sense.
