Question 1194992: Please help me with this problem: Sally is playing a dice game with 2 standard 6-sided dice. To win the game, Sally will roll the dice twice. The sum of the dice on the first roll must be less than 6 and the sum on the 2nd roll must be at least 10. What is the probability that Sally wins this game?

The two dice rolls are independent events, so the overall probability of the two events is the probability of success on the first roll multiplied by the probability of success on the second roll.
The probability of getting less than 6 is the probability of getting 5, plus the probability of getting 4, plus the probability of getting 3, plus the probability of getting 2. There are 36 possible outcomes for a pair of six-sided dice.
1 way to make 2, 1 and 1
2 ways to make 3, 1 and 2, or 2 and 1
3 ways to make 4, 1 and 3, 2 and 2, or 3 and 1
4 ways to make 5, 1 and 4, 2 and 3, 3 and 2, or 4 and 1
The probability of anything is the number of outcomes you consider success divided by the total number of outcomes.
I've given you enough information to calculate the probability of success on the first roll. Use a similar analysis to find the probability of success on the second roll. Hint: "At least 10" means 10, 11, or 12
