There are two basic relations between acceleration "a", speed "v", time "t" and distance "S"


    S(t) = %28at%5E2%29%2F2   for distance        (1)

and

    v = at   for speed                   (2)


In this problem, the input data are the distance and the speed.

So, from (2) we express  t = v%2Fa  and substitute it into (1). Doing this way, we get

    S(t) = %28a%2A%28v%2Fa%29%5E2%29%2F2 = v%5E2%2F%282a%29.


It gives us

    a = v%5E2%2F%282%2AS%29.    (3)


It the direct formula, which allows us to compute acceleration having the distance and the speed.


You only need substitute given values in formula (3)

    a = 160%5E2%2F%282%2A0.7%29 = 18285.7 miles per hour per hour.


Formally, it is the answer to the problem's question.


I say "formally", because this unit  "miles per hour per hour"  is practically NEVER USED in practice.
