Question 1192706: Hi, If you have |x-b| = c where b = a number and c = a number or expression and x is greater than or equal to -1.3 what are the solutions?
For at least one solution I set b = 0, and had x = +1.3 or -1.3
Not sure this is the what they are looking for.
Thanks!

The given equation  |x-b| = c  highlight%28SAYS%29  that

    the point x in number line is remoted "c" units from point b.

It means that the given equation has two solutions

    x = b + c    and/or   x = b - c.

Solved.

What I showed you in this my post,  is  THE  SHORTEST  and  most   STRAIGHTFORWARD  way to solve
the given equation and to express the solution in wording form.

It can be solved formally,  but for this type equation/equations I  always prefer the presented method.
