Question 1192648: Suppose you compute a confidence interval with a sample size of 30. What will happen to the confidence interval if the sample size increases to 85?
A) The confidence level will decrease, making the confidence interval smaller.
B) The confidence level will increase, making the confidence interval larger.
C)The margin of error will increase, making the confidence interval larger.
D) The margin of error will decrease, making the confidence interval smaller.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! The confidence interval will narrow as the sample size gets greater. But A says a decreasing confidence makes for a smaller interval. That in of itself is true, but the confidence level doesn't change with a larger sample size; the confidence interval does.

The answer is D. The margin of error gets smaller, because n is in the denominator and is getting larger even as everything else stays the same. With a smaller margin of error, there is a smaller confidence interval.
