If AB=5, AC=8, DC=2, then BC< 15 ...
I think you have a typing error. You use three C and only one D.
If AB=5, AC=8 (DC any number) then BC < 13 (=5+8)
Maybe your problem sounds:
If AB=5, AC=8, DC=2 then BD < 15
then with respect to AC=CA the sum DC + CA + AB
is 2 + 8 + 5 = 15
It takes 15 to move from D via C and A to B.
But that's not the shortest way from D to B because you visit C and A.
The shortest way to move from D to B is DB and the shortest way must be shorter as (or equal to) 15.
