Question 119133This question is from textbook algebra 2
: OK, the question reads name the additive and multiplicative inverse for each number.
-4 3/5.
i dont underdstand inverses to well nut what i do know is that it is basically the reciprocal.correct?
so would it be..((additive)
4 5/3 so it would equal 0?
and the multiplicative would be...
all i know is that you have to get it to equal one
so mabey....
4 3/5 again?
thanks for taking your time to answer my question This question is from textbook algebra 2
You can put this solution on YOUR website! -4 3/5
The additive inverse is what number do I add to my number to get zero.
The additive inverse is always the negative of your number.
So the additive inverse of (-4 3/5) is -(-4 3/5) or (4 3/5).
I think that's what you meant to put down (you had 4 5/3).
The multiplicative inverse is what number do I multiply my number by to get 1.
For this one, you need to take the extra step and change your mixed number into a fraction.
-4 3/5 = -23/5
The multiplicative inverse of a fraction is just the reciprocal.
The multiplicative inverse of -23/5 is -5/23.
Good luck.
