I'll do this one instead:
The solution x=-6 makes which of the following equations true?
17-x=11
x/6=1
X+9=3
11x=66
We substitute (-6) in each one to see if we get the same number on
both sides. If we do, then x=-6 makes the equation true. If it
doesn't, then it doesn't.
23 on the left side does NOT equal to 11 on the right side, so
this is NOT correct.
-1 on the left side does NOT equal to 1 on the right side, so
this is NOT correct.
3 on the left side DOES equal to 3 on the right side, so
this IS correct.
-66 on the left side does NOT equal to 66 on the right side, so
this is NOT correct.
No do your problem by substituting (-5) for x.
