Demola age = x           years.

Deji   age = (x-2)       years.

Tobi   age = x%2F2.         years.



Write equation for the combined age as you read the problem

    x + (x-2) + x%2F2 = 23.


Multiply both sides by 2 to rid of denominators; then simplify and find x

    2x + 2(x-2) + x = 2*23

    2x + 2x - 4 + x = 46

         5x         = 46 + 4 = 50

          x                  = 50/5 = 10.


ANSWER.  Demola is 10 years old.

Since Deji's age is required, we LET Deji's age be D
Then  Demola's is: D + 2, and Tobi's is: %28D+%2B+2%29%2F2
With their ages summing to 23, we get: 
4D + D + 2 = 42 ------ Multiplying by LCD, 2
5D = 40
Deji's age, or highlight_green%28matrix%281%2C5%2C+D%2C+%22=%22%2C+40%2F5%2C+%22=%22%2C+8%29%29

would've noticed that you gave Demola's age, and all he/she had to do was subtract 2 from that age to get Deji's age. That's all!
