40% were red, so 60% were blue.

Losing 50 blue beads reduces the number of blue beads by 1/3, so the 50 blue beads are 1/3 of the original number of blue beads. So the original number of blue beads was 3*50 = 150.

If the original 150 blue beads were 60% of the total, then the total number of beads was 250, and the number of red beads was 100.

After she lost 50 blue beads, she had 100 blue beads left, along with the 100 red beads.

ANSWER: She had 100+100 = 200 beads at the end.
