.

8 1/3% = 25%2F3 % = %28%2825%2F3%29%29%2F100 = 1%2F%283%2A4%29 = 1%2F12.

THEREFORE, your equation, from the problem's description, is

    x%2F12 = 75.

Solve it using basic Algebra.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let x = the money.

(8 and 1/3)% is equal to (25/3)%.

your equation is (25/3)% * x = 75

since (25/3)% is equal to (25/3)/100, then your equation becomes (25/3)/100 * x = 75.

multiply both sides of this equation by 100 to get (25/3) * x = 7500.

multiply both sides of this equa tion by (3/25) to get x = (3/25) * 7500 = 900.

since (25/3)/100 is equal to 25/300, you could also have done...

(25/3)/100 * x = 75 becomes 25/300 * x = 75.

multiply both sides of this equation by 300/25 to get:

x = 75 * 300/25 = 900.

x% is equal to x/100.

therefore (25/3)% is equal to (25/3)/100 which is equal to 25/300.

your solution is that the sum of money is equal to 900 dollars.

(8 + 1/3)% times 900 = (25/3)% * 900 = 25/300 * 900 = 75.
