that's a total of 8 boards for step 1 and step 2.

he requires 9 nails for step 1 and 6 nails for step 2.
that's a total of 15 nails for step 1 and 2.

he has 70 boards and 110 nails.

70 divided by 8 = 8 bookshelves = 64 boards with 6 boards left over.

110 / 15 = 7 bookshelves = 105 nails with 5 nails left over.

the limiting factor is the nails.

therefore 7 bookshelves can be made.

7 * 8 = 56 boards with 14 left over.

7 * 15 = 105 nails with 5 left over.
