In what ratio should the contents of the 2 containers be mixed to obtain a mixture of A and B in the ratio of 1 to 1.
:
let x = amt in container 1
let y = amt in container 2
Write a mixture equation for Liquid A
Changing ratio to percent,
Container 1 contains 67% liquid A
Container 2 contains 33% liquid A
:
67x + 33y = 50(x+y)
67x + 33y = 50x + 50y
67x - 50x = 50y - 33y
17x = 17y
therefore
ratio of x to y containers is 1 to 1
