Question 1181942: A ball is dropped from a height of 5m and bounces on the ground. At the top of each bounce, the ball reaches 80% of its previous height. Calculate the total distance travelled by the ball when it hits the ground for the fourth time, accurate to 1 decimal place.
I NEED HELP ASAP!! THANKS
You would get the answer MUCH faster doing the work yourself than by posting a question on this forum and hoping to get an answer.
There is nothing mysterious or difficult about the calculation. You just need to do it.
Initial height: 5.00m
Max height after first bounce: 0.8(5.00m) = 4.00m
Max height after second bounce: 0.8(4.00m) = 3.20m
Max height after third bounce: 0.8(3.20m) = 2.56m
Distance traveled at first bounce: 5.00m
Distance traveled between first and second bounces: 4.00m+4.00m
Distance traveled between second and third bounces: 3.20m+3.20m
Distance traveled between third and fourth bounces: 3.56m+2.56m
