An inverse variation can be represented by the equation xy=k=>y=k%2Fx or y=kx+. That is, y varies inversely as x+if there is some nonzero constant k+such that, y=k%2Fx or y=kx where x%3C%3E0,y%3C%3E0

If y+varies inversely as x+, we have
y+=k%2Fx
and if y=+3 when x=4, you can find k
3+=k%2F4
k=3%2A4
k=12
then
y+=12%2Fx
